What to do when the stator on a motorcycle often burns out?
There are several reasons for the frequent burning of the stator. The most common reasons are:
The solution is to install a correct and high-quality stator and replace the voltage regulator with a serial voltage regulator. The first measure can be replacing the parallel regulator with a series type. If the stator has worked for a long time with a parallel regulator, it is possible that after some time the stator will still fail even with a built-in series regulator.
The series regulator reduces the current consumption from the stator and thereby heats it up less, reduces the heating of the stator and the installation from the stator to the regulator. Heating the installation is not harmless because it can lead to a partial or complete interruption of power from the generator, which will result in (imperceptible) discharge of the battery, damage to the battery and inability to start the motorcycle.
You can find more about the advantages of serial regulators in the article:"Advantages of the serial type of voltage regulator on a motorcycle". We offer proven quality series single-phase and three-phase regulators and series-parallel regulators (e.g. 14V-3FHVSP-30A-AX-KS-LI for high rpm motorcycles, which have proven to be an excellent choice in many years of practice. We provide a 3 to 5 year warranty on serial regulators. There is more about the quality of the regulator in the article: "Superior quality of the regulator".
Many motorcyclists change the stator and put a serial type of regulator even before the failure occurs because some types of motorcycles in the original battery charging solution inevitably end up with the voltage regulator burning. In addition to the costs for the new regulator, there are also the possible costs of transporting the motorcycle to the workshop. So it is better to avoid a surprise and instead of paying for the transportation costs of a broken motorcycle, use that money to purchase a higher quality and better serial type of voltage regulator.
