   The voltage regulator 14V-3FHVSP-30A-BX-KS-LI is perhaps an even better replacement than the original Polaris Sportsman regulator. Namely, the original regulator on the Polaris has a serial type of regulation and only such a regulator may be installed. By putting a parallel type regulator , you will increase the heating of the stator winding and do additional damage. Today, you can find a cheaper parallel mosfet regulator, which may heat up less, but will maximally load the stator winding of the generator and will almost certainly cause the stator winding to burn out.

   The new regulator may not fit in the same place, and when replacing it, it is necessary to make additional interventions (make a new method of fastening and resolve the connection of the connector). The regulator must not be mounted in a place where it is hit by water and mud from the wheels. Clogging the regulator with dirt leads to excessive heating of the regulator, shutdown due to overheating, poor charging of the battery and eventually failure of the regulator and battery. Also, mounting the regulator behind the radiator or immediately behind the engine leads to excessive heating of the regulator.

 

   Expected charging voltage is 14.15 to 14.3VDC. If the voltage is lower, it is necessary to find where the voltage loss occurs using the instruction.
